Well...., I wrote a beautiful blog last night at about 2am but RBC was undergoing maintenance when I submitted and it never made it to press. Ouch! I will try to re-create here...
Saturday morning started with me waking with a start at 8:25am... shoot! Yoga starts at 8:30... I slapped some water on my face threw on some workout clothes and walked in late but just in time to partner with the lovely Anna Brekka. If you have met her, I am sure you agree: she is lovely. After an hour of stretching and holding and breathing..., I realized that there are parts of my musculature that have been neglected for YEARS! Wow, I became an instant fan and will be joining a studio near my home. What a treat, thanks Michelle!
After a quick shower... gosh I wanted a nap.... I joined the rest of the attendees for a continental breakfast and we all sat around Dennis Smith as he wrapped up the conference with personal thoughts and shared with us the advantages and delights of social media. This was a terrific way to come back together and re-connect before we went our separate ways.
I loved this conference. I loved not taking notes or frantically running from presentation to presentation. What was gained will stay with me (and others, I'm sure) for a long time to come..
Friendships were re-newed, online relationships were sealed with a face to face meeting, new colleagues and friendships were forged. I can honestly say, my focus was redefined. This just doesn't happen....
Part Quatre Bright Spots for me:
~Jason's continued humble way
~Yoga!
~Dennis' wisdom and welcoming smile
~Listening to Animal impart potentially "fightin' words" - in person, no less...
~Dave Perry's stories and enthusiasm
~Michelle's desire to assist in any way.
~The deli lunch, visit to the park, a glorious nap and dinner with friends- good sangria and Mexican food, no less.
and
~Missing those that had already left...
I remember the first conference I ever attended as a recruiter... I was manning an Exhibitor's Booth at a National Health Care HR Conference and was told to stay away from the other recruiters that were exhibiting- "don't say anything about our work..." Crossing bridges, opening eyes, the magical word-"networking" and listening to thought leaders in this industry has made all the difference...
April is around the corner, I look forward with much anticipation to RecruitFest DEUX
