On leadership development, nature or nurture...

"If authentic leaders are a consequence of their early life experiences does this mean that leadership development books, tapes, learning programs and business consultants are a waste of time? And does this explain why so few of them are not sticky?"

Amitai, This is an Interesting idea that doesn't hold up.

It's not easy for some people, except those who know they can, but you can adopt and alter your behavior patterns virtually anytime you want. Where authentic leaders, as they are defined in this case, have a leg up is that they may not have to make any changes.
