I have been thinking about writing this post for quite some time.  There are people I encounter in life that I consider a Bad Ass.  I encounter true Bad Asses occasionally, but less and less frequently these days.

I don’t care what your W2 said you made last year.  I don’t care how athletic you are.  I don’t care how people view you.

A Bad Ass is someone who is someone who is passionate about something.  A Bad Ass is someone who is not afraid to speak his or her mind.  A Bad Ass is someone who stands up for what they believe in regardless of what others think of them. I aspire to be like them.  I imagine you do too!

You see, there are too many wimps out there.  They wake up, do their thing and go on with their lives.  I look for someone who wants to make a difference.

Man up, put your gloves on and don’t be afraid to speak your mind.  Don’t be afraid of trying something different.   Don’t be afraid of what someone else might think.

You are an original.  You are unique.   Be confident.  Be bold.  Be excited.  Love life, and embrace change.  Make a difference.  Stick out your tongue, do a slam-dunk.

Thanks for all of the Bad Asses out there.  You know who you are.  I do too.  Recruiting needs you.  Change the world one idea at a time.  I need to take your lead.  I certainly have a lot to learn from you.

Exactly Will.  We have been handing out the "Bad Ass" reward to bloggers on RecruitingBlogs for a couple of years now when they put it all out there and not only question, but give solutions...No bitching! ~Noel

Thanks, Will, Recruiting Blogs.

For those of us anxious, quivering, boot-quakers on the "other side" of the moral courage fence, could we have awards for the the most brown-nosing, up-sucking(?), ass-kissing recruiting writers/commentators (don't have to be here on RBC, but anywhere). I'd like to see who gets an RBC "Kiss Ass".

Happy Friday, 'Cruitaz!

Hey Will, this stinks. It reminds me of those books that try to pretend that Tony Soprano is a corporate boss instead of a thug. A badass is not what you say it is at all.  And these exhortations telling me:

"You are an an original.  You are unique.   Be confident.  Be bold.  Be excited.  Love life, and embrace change.  Make a difference."

These have no effect at all. It's a shallow pep talk.

Geez guys, cant we just have someone post something without cutting them down every time?

Animal- I don't think you take compliments very well.

Pete Radloff,

1. Will Thomson put my name on his Twitter posting to alert me about this blog entry.

2. It's about being a badass and even in his nicey-nice version of badass you can see that it still implies someone who is not really nice. It's someone who is brutally honest and unflinchingly direct and totally unafraid of giving offence.

3. He said that's a virtue so I gave him a badass review. I expected that it wouldn't feel good and he might even resent it but that's what he claimed he wanted.

4. My Twitter bio makes it very clear that if you're sensitive don't follow me. And for sure don't ask me to review your stuff.

5. If we are talking about giving honest reviews, my show fairly badass and it's followed by an aftershow that is totally badass - and anyone who has listened knows that.

6. So why are you accusing me of doing something wrong.

7. Now that I've had to argue my point and looked at the posting a number of times it's not as wimpy as it seemed at first. Will says:

"A Bad Ass is someone who stands up for what they believe in regardless of what others think of them. I aspire to be like them.  There are too many wimps out there.... with their pathetic lives."

The stuff about being passionate and making a difference and "you are unique" - I think these standard phrases misled me.
