Recruiting in the gaming industry

Can anyone provide any insight into recruiting in the gaming industry? I am currently in IT and have been for a very long time within financial companies, insurance...and i think it is time to move on and focus on something a bit different.
In addition, i am ready to make the move out on my own and start my own company and i firmly believe especially in this marketplace or any other, a niche is needed to separate yourself from everyone else out ther. Gaming has always been an interest of mine and it is growing industry on a multi billion dollar plane.

I was hoping to hear advice or direction from anyone out there who has experienced it or knows about it.
Even within that realm, there seems to be a number of differnet areas in regards to positions, engineers, producers, voice-over, artistic and i was thinking it might also make sense to become a specialist in 1 or 2 of those areas.
