In the Q & A section on LinkedIn, few questions should have as much impact as the one that follows:
This is just a reminder to focus on what really matters.
So much time today is focused on work and more work. At times we forget about those who are most important to us. My question is - "Who do you love? How do they know?"
Great question, Andrew and I have to admit that there have been times when my family has wondered about my answer. I am sure, you - as a working professional - can relate. It is not easy to find that work/life balance that so many talk about and attest to "having it down". I readily confess that I DO NOT have it down. It requires daily effort on my part to remember what I have to do to make work happen and what I have to do to make my family happen. Neither one of these parts of my life happen by themselves or thoughtlessly.
Maybe that is the secret. Maybe recognizing the necessary effort that must take place is what reminds us of who we love and how we should let them know. You can love many things in your life - but which ones love you back?
The message to the Tin Man: "A heart is not measured by how much you love, but by how much you are loved by others..." is of great worth and brings additional value to your message of love. Think about it, though - doesn't one naturally follow the other?
If they don't know you, they can't love you. This is a message to myself more than to anyone else.
I love the Tin Man's comment later:
"Now I know I have a heart, cause it's breaking."
The flip side to your message of Love Today is doing just that: love the day you are in, embrace where you are and who you are with at this exact moment in your life. LOVE today and Love TODAY. Great message of balance and gain. Gaining the balance and balancing the gain.
Words to work by.
More importantly, Words to love by....
