Compelling question to ask at the interview (1)

So the interview is going well with you in truly fine form, and suddenly there is a lull. It can happen and will on occasions. The said lull can even be manufactured in order to test your interpersonal and communication skills.

Whether you are faced with this dilemma or simply wish to better understand the motivations of your next boss, I would encourage executives to ask the following question. Tell me about your management style and how you typically get the very best results from your team?

I have found over the years that many leaders, even those that are deemed very successful, struggle with this question. Their reply might surprise given their seniority and level of managerial responsibility.
