The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) is still accepting
 petitions for H-1B visas but won't be for long, according to MU Visa Advisor.

As of May 11, 
the USCIS had received 36,700 petitions, which is more than half of the 65,000 petitions that are subject to the Fiscal Year (FY) 2013 cap.  The USCIS began accepting petitions on April 2.  

At this rate, 
the cap will likely be reached around June 10, at which point the USCIS will stop accepting petitions. Remember, the USCIS considers cases accepted on the date they take possession of a properly filed petition with the correct fee, not the date that the petition is postmarked.  Therefore,
employers are advised to submit their petitions by May 25 in order to make the estimated deadline.

H-1B visas are commonly used in 
contract staffing to place foreign workers in assignments that require theoretical or technical expertise in specialized fields, such as scientists, engineers, or computer programmers
