The interview is over and you either discovered the next star for your company or a disaster to avoid. How do you close the interview? It depends.
The candidate rocked
The candidate is the perfect fit for the position but you have 5 more people to interview. If you could hire them on the spot, you would. But you still need to check their references and pass the hire by your
boss. Tell the candidate you'll call them in the next few days to schedule a
second interview. In the meantime, check their references.
The candidate is a disaster
By now it should be clear to the candidate that the job isn't a fit for their experience. You can express your concerns about the lack of expertise that's required to do the job. Or say thank you and send a
follow-up letter within a week.
How do you end an interview?
