Is there a standard security guideline which staffing agencies follow regarding the sensitive information obtained from job seekers??

Hi folks,

As recruiters, we obtain SSN and other sensitive information from the job seekers we place.  Is there an industry standard protocol to comply with privacy acts?  We want to make sure we're not breaching security guidelines during the record keeping and sharing of hired candidates' personal information.
