Back on May 22, I noted that Tom Golisano, founder and billionaire owner of Paychex, decided that New York statutory environment was driving businesses out of the state. Under the now - and hopefully single term - Governor Patterson, New York is becoming a place that is unfriendly towards business; unfriendly to business means unfriendly to recruiting.
Yesterday saw an old fashioned coup up in Albany
when the Republicans wrested control of the Senate...apparently engineered by Golisano who has been a significant political funding contributor.
Recruiters rejoice! Certain social reforms aside - specifically the gay marriage bill which should be passed - the Democrats were giving it all away to be funded by business and taxpayers.
Here is another reason why "expert" recruiters need to pull their heads out of their Twittering asses and follow politics in more than 140 characters. The political environment is so integral to recruiting that I'm surprised so few actually take it seriously.
Again, it's called being a PEST:
Political
Economic
Social
Technological
Focusing on Gen-whatevers and Twitter will only get you half the way
there.
Incidentally, this is my last blog post on RBC; I'll let y'all know where my new home will be. For sure I'll pop in to comment - can't resist some of the never ending threads here - but it's time to move on.
