What to do with the rest of my day? Today there is no use in making anymore terrible phone calls like the last few. I can't form a sentence correctly. I can't overcome an objection to save my life - and I give up! Since I still need a job, I cannot just go home and take the dogs for a walk, so what do I do?
On days like this, when everything I say comes out wrong and I dread the next call - find a way to be productive. Sometimes calling "friendlies" helps get me out of a rut. You know, those clients or candidates you're buddy's with but actually do have some legitimate reason to call. Sometime a chat with somebody like that will get my spirits renewed enough to make a few more cold-calls.
If that doesn't do it for me, then I begin research for the next day, or maybe send long overdue emails to folks. I can organize my desk for the next day, or update my job orders and top candidates lists - I usually find a client or candidate to re-visit. I can update job postings to the website. This day can be useful, our jobs as recruiters are not totally, 100% phone calls all day long, we have administrative type work to do too. Right?
The truth is - not every day can be 50 great phone calls and conversations. Some days, I am off my game, so why make it worse? Some days are meant for just doing busy-work! or writing on a blog..
