We recently raised the issue of what kind of future voicemail has in recruiting. Since that’s a timely topic in the world of business and within the recruiting industry, we thought it might be a good idea to follow up with a recruiter poll!
What’s important, of course, is how much of a response recruiters get when they leave voicemails. When it comes to phone calls, recruiters make plenty of marketing calls to companies in the hopes of landing new job orders and working on searches.
However, a decline in voicemail could have a detrimental effect on the marketing efforts of recruiters, unless they're also marketing heavily through other avenues. Getting in front of hiring managers and decision makers is crucial for recruiters looking to acquire new clients and grow their business, and voicemail is a part of that equation.
With that in mind, the question that we posed to Top Echelon Network Preferred Member recruiters recently is as follows:
Do you get more or less of a response after leaving a voicemail than you did 10 years ago?
The choice of answers that we provided is listed below, along with the percentage of recruiters who selected each one:
Far and away, the answer that recruiters selected the most was “less of a response” at 59.1%. In addition, “about the same” garnered 27.3% of the responses.
Almost surprisingly, 4.5% of the recruiters chose “more of a response” as their answer. And then there were those who weren’t recruiting 10 years ago, consisting of just over 9% of the poll participants.
Overall, though, the results of this poll are in line with current trends in the business world. But forget about everybody else for a second. What’s happening on YOUR desk? What kind of response are you getting with the voicemails that you leave?
