Recruiting.com sells Jobster - now I think the real game begins

I wanted to put it out there that the day may come when Recruiting.com (the company) sells the domain name Recruiting.com. From my perspective as a guy who has done pretty well in the domain name industry, that domain name is the one to own if you had a choice. Maybe Jobs.com but that name is not going any where anytime soon.

I owned Recruiting.com once and I did ok with it. I sold it to what was then called Jobster in 2006 and never really looked back. Well, maybe a little but not too much. Since 2006, I have done a lot of things in the recruiting industry. The thing that has kept me most busy since then is a website for Recruiters and HR professionals called RecruitingBlogs.com and the constant buying and selling of what I consider to be some very good domain names in the recruiting industry.

The day is going to come when the company currently known as Recruiting.com is going to look to sell ... I am sure they would sell it today if someone were in a position to buy it. It’s worth a lot of money and I don’t think it will ever be sold at a discount so it is what I consider to be a potential end user sale if ever there is a sale. No one who invests in domain names will buy it hoping to sell it at a profit one day. I don’t think the money men who own it will ever “have” to sell it.

This brings me to the point of this post. The point of the post is that I wanted to let whoever out there know that if you ever consider or are considering buying the domain name Recruiting.com, my organization-- which owns RecruitingBlogs.com, millions of dollars in domain names, an events business, and many very popular recruiting related blogs and ecommerce sites-- would be interested in discussing a partnership of any kind - kind of like an invitation to a discussion.

I have a couple of ideas.

Jason, I can't wait (if you get the opportunity - hoping you do) to see what some of those ideas are. You've always been one of the industry's most interesting lights. Keep it coming.

Wow, makes me wish I had invested in Disney or Apple stock 20+ years ago, when I merely thought about it. I would sell in a heart beat to have the opp to purchase the domain name Recruiting.com, if only to be able to partner with the incomparable Jason Davis and the RecruitingBlogs.com team.

The Recruiting and HR Industries are lucky to have an influencer such as Jason to continually prepare the way for new, bigger, and better ideas... (Did you see that I didn't all you a thought leader, Jason?)
I don't think there is a path big enough to hold your monster truck of a future. I look forward to watching your gi-normous thoughts and dreams continually evolve and take shape.

I echo Martin, "Keep it coming."

Having just eyeballed the website of recruiting.com where the most recent info is November 10, I see your point.

This is kind of awkward - especially if you guys already have a strong discussion going - but I'd also like to express my interest in buying the domain.

a great generic domain in the wrong hands is a tragically wasted opportunity. a great generic domain in the right hands can be a 100x amplifier on its owners' business. imho, reuniting jason davis with recruiting.com would be akin to taking two chunks of Uranium-235 and clapping them together ... >ka-freaking-BOOOOM!!!!br />
recruiting.com's owners would be FAR better off, financially, owning 25% of a partnership with jason than owning 100% of a generic domain that just sits there. as jason has already proven beyond a doubt, just having the domain recruiting.com is not enough. it takes a special person to define, aggregate, and "bind" a rabid subculture -- and that's what jason has done with recruitingblogs.com

Since Jerry is already feeling awkward, I would like to help him out and say that depending on where you are in the discussion I may have some "access" to take part in the discussion and would like to possibly share some domain name stratgies as well...I feel naked!
