Low and No Cost Resources for Small (HR/Recruiting) Businesses on a Budget

Part 1 highlighted Accounting resources for the small business. Let's hop right in to Part 2...


Constant Contact offers email, event, and social media marketing tools and solutions.  This 15 year old company helps small businesses connect with their customers and clients. Low cost plans are around $15/month.

MailChimp helps you design email newsletters, share them on social networks, integrate with services you already use, and track your results. They offer a free plan that covers up to 2,000 subscribers. Low cost plans start at $10/month.

Manta is where small business grows with 25 million users monthly searching through a directory of 89 million companies. You can utilize the free account or boost results with a premium business listing. Manta has a lot of really cool extra features like community forums and Q&A, so check it out!

Google Places offers free opportunities for small businesses to be found by their local communities.

Appointment Setting 

Time Driver handles online appointment scheduling. This program was greatly helpful to me when scheduling phone interviews and client meetings as an Independent Recruiter. There is a 30-day free trial and low cost pricing options available (as little at $49/year for one user).

GenBook is another easy yet sophisticated tool for managing busy calendars. GenBook offers a 30-day free trial with reasonable pricing ($20/month for one user).

Acuity boasts free appointment setting online, anywhere in the world — and on your schedule. There is a 14 day free trial, and a free option, as well as a few low cost solutions. The $10 monthly plan is pretty robust, and syncs with Google Mail.

Customer Relationship Management (CRM)

Sales Force is a CRM that offers a free 30-day trial and offers pricing as low as $5/month.  

Zoho CRM manages your sales, marketing, customer support, and inventory in a single system. It is free for up to 3 users and has low-cost pricing plans from $12/month.

Survey Monkey allows you to create and publish online surveys in minutes, and view results graphically and in real time. The basic account is 100% free. If you need something more robust, you can compare plans based on your needs (paid plans start at $17/month).
