T
he applicant tracking industry is being slaughtered in the press. Why? Because so many people are focusing on the automated resume ranking and parsing of keywords. Of the hundreds of features in an applicant tracking system, why is everyone so focused on this one piece? Because of the candidate experience. The candidates are speaking out, and they don't like what is happening. They feel that they were wrongly deselected and that they were not provided with any acknowledgement or follow-up. Instead of letting your candidates fall into a black hole, use your applicant tracking system for good by treating candidates like gold.
5 Ways to Use Your ATS for Good:
Comment by Maisha Cannon on March 13, 2012 at 6:16pm Hi Julia,
I really like #1 & #5. Great idea to engage the candidate at each stage of the process - whether good news or bad. Technology allows for this to be done with a simple click if the ATS is smartly designed and customized for the recruiter's needs. The screening questions at the beginning of the process also make the candidate acknowledge whether or not they truly meet the minimum requirements. Thanks for sharing!

I think all 5 points are exactly why ATS systems should not be "slaughtered". All of these really benefit the candidate in one way or another.
Great post!
