New Legislation proposed in South Africa could see the end of the Recruitment industry as we currently know it. It is proposed to outlaw all forms of temporary and contract recruitment forcing all employers to employ staff on a permanent basis only.
This will of course have very dramatic effects for the industry and the millions of temporary and contract workers currently employed in South Africa whose employers will be forced to offer permanent employment or terminate employment.
The Legalisation is being supported by the ANC government as it sees real social problems being caused by 'Labour Brookers' who operate with low paid workers and are alegigadly the source of mistreatment of these workers.
Below are links to two conversation I have recently had with Lorna O'Brien of O'Brien Recruitment and Albie Rheeder of ME Personnel Consultants both of whom see major problem ahead.
