The Social Network For The Recruiting Industry

Gavin Chase

Are recruiters distracted by the online social networking and job board phenomenons?

  • Rating: No Rating

I walk into a recruiters office and past recruiters, not on the phone, but online, studiously scouring job boards or social networking sites... they all look busy but you could hear a pin drop!
What ever happened to planning calls and getting on the phone? Are recruiters embracing technology or hiding behind it?

Here is an idea.... turn the internet off for an hour and see what happens! I think you would then see who your real recruiters are... the ones who have the potential to be Big Billers

YES YES YES! Great point, Gavin.

When planning your day, recruiters should 'batch their time' and schedule internet research time so that it does not overlap with precious prime calling time. The internet is both a great research tool and a great excuse to stay off the phone. Managers should manage their staff to make sure this great resource doesn't become their downfall.

Think of it as rapture of the deep, a term used by divers. When underwater, they are distracted by the beauty of the sea world and lose track of time and run out of oxygen.
