The Social Network For The Recruiting Industry

Hi everyone,

Just a quick question for all of the recruiting blog members...

How and where do you go for information regarding applicant tracking systems?

Many thanks in advance!

www.bullhorn.com is an excellent applicant tracking system. It integrates your e-mail with all of your candidate tracking, calendaring, etc.

The great thing about it is it is all online, which allows you to access information and candidate profiles, resumes, etc at home, or wherever you have an internet connection. This is also great because it means you don't have to have an expensive server and support team, the resumes are stored on a server that bullhorn owns and maintains for you.

It is very user friendly, and is the best I have seen so far! Check it out!

I forgot to mention, it also has an excellent parseing system that allows you to upload resumes or paste resumes, and it will seperate all of the vital information into a profile for the candidate. It also has an excellent search function.

Are you currently using Bullhorn? When you decided you need an applicant tracking system, how did you go about finding one? - Thanks, Alisha

I am currently using Bullhorn. I didn't actually choose the system, but my boss (the President of Talent Pro) decided to use it. He has been in the industry for 10+ years and has found it to be the most useful thus far.

If I were to go about finding one myself I would look for the following:
-Ease of use
-Integrates e-mail to be able to attached e-mail to candidate files
-Ensure it has capability for thorough notes - jobs worked, salaries, interests, likes-dislikes,
-Easily identifies if the applicant has been: screened, submitted, interviewed, offer made, placed.
-Has an excellent search function
-Is web-based and easily accessible from remote locations
-Has a good (and accurate) parseing system (espec. if it can parse from a resume and from an e-mail directly)
-Does it require that I have a dedicated server and back it up regularly, or is the server held and backed up remotely from the host?
-Can also track clients, jobs from the clients, placements with the client, standard fee information, and candidates who had been previously submitted to client
-Can set up multiple user levels for recruiters/account execs, etc.

Bullhorn does all of this and more. It is very efficient and very user friendly. Perhaps if you call them they can give you a trial version to test.

Thanks Jonathan!

If you did have to look for one, where abouts would you look? Strictly the web? Or would you contact various recruiting related organizations? Trade Show? Thanks for your help!!!

I would first ask recruiters in the industry, much like you are. As you know well from recruiting, referrals are the best candidates---likewise, referrals when it comes to tools and resources are equally the best.

Second, I would do a google serach for such systems.

Thirdly, I would ask each one that seems interesting the above stated questions, as well as whether or not they can give me a trial version to evaluate. NEVER make a decision without seeing it first.

Trade shows may be helpful - but their goal is subjective to who they work for, and therefore their opinions are very biased. Again, referrals are the most objective and un-biased. Myself and the others on this forum have nothing to gain by giving our opinion on an ATS, as we aren't making commission off of any of them.

Recruiting organizations may be able to tell you names of other ATS, but I still contend to get referrals.

You may want to look at www.maxhire.net as well.

The internet is the best place for research; do you know what kind of system you are looking for? We implemented Ceridian last year.
