When colleagues are posting resumes

This is more of a question than a pure blog post. What do you all do (if anything) when you come across a resume, say on Career Builder, of someone who works for your company? I have had this happen several times in recent past and am wondering if anyone has examples of what happened. Did you tell their boss? Contact them directly? Do nothing? I'm saddened, of course, because I've found one recently for an individual who is a top performer in the company. I don't know the situation or reasoning… Continue

Good question. For me it depends on what role I play in the firm (management, HR, etc.). If I found a current co-worker's resume online I would do nothing as I am not in a decision making capacity. My role does not require me to act.

I have an obligation of honesty and loyalty to the firm. On the other hand, it is not my business to interfere with a colleague's job/career. There may be other things going on behind the scene that I am not privy to, nor should be.

Do you know reason for your top performer motivation to leave? WIthout knowing that it is hard to give a definite answer. Obviously, your colleague is bright enough to put a private resume online but felt the need not to make their's as such.

I feel ones action should depend on their role in the company as this will determine what obligations they have. I hope this helps again, good question.

Hello Jenny, thank you for connecting with me. I look forward to working with you. I recently completed the supplier profile document for Manpower. I worked with your colleague Richard Zanes to become a sub vendor with Manpower. My company is a certified minority staffing company located in Plantation. I am looking forward to working with your company as a sub contractor. If you can provide any assistance, it would be appreciated.
