I've been thinking about writing an article. I want to get back into the groove of daily publishing. Really, it's just about me. I like the discipline. I did it for 14 years. I've taken a year off. I miss it.
I was going to call the article "Monster Baiters".
I wanted to point out the fact that some widely read bloggers seem to make an enormous amount of hay at Monster's expense. It turns out that the harshest critics are deeply supported by Monster's competition. It's hard to f…
ContinueI missed a couple of weeks in order to avoid offering version 1.13. I'm not superstitious, exactly.
In that time, we had a very successful Recruiting Roadshow in Minneapolis. Special Thanks to Jason Davis, Dave Mendoza, Maren Hogan, Steven Rothberg, Jason Buss, Paul DeBettignies, Kelly Wackerfuss, Don Ramer, Josh Kahn, Toby Dayton and George LaRocque. Paul DeBettigne's mom made a special guest appearance. One of the featured speakers was the former editor and CEO of the Minneapolis Sta…

Another way of thinking about online community is the flow of activity across the front page of RBC. Each tidbit of conversation, each blogging broadside, each webinar, each chat are like the twinkling lights of a city as you fly over it. The faces, videos, forum postings and events indicate an ongoing set of interesting relationships. Each pulse point symbolizes the underlying network that is growing and developing here.
It's uncharted territory.
At the heart of thriving networ…

Happy Interdependence Day
A community is forming in this little outpost called RecruitingBlogs.com. Somehow, the space is overcoming its very name. Imagine trying to sell houses in a town called "Ya Gotta Be A Writer To Live Here".
While the moniker implies one kind of involvement, the reality is quite different. RecruitingBlogs.com (RBC) is a place for experimentation. Its inhabitants are trying new things every day.
The first experiment is the one Dave Mendoza calls "Re…

Did you see Jason's recent email highlighting the conversation Between Josh Letourneau and David Manaster? Josh's post is an attempt to build a conversation about the economic consequences of a downturn on our industry. David's rejoinders move the conversation off-topic and onto the differences between ERE and RBC.
Interesting t…

This week, we're looking at axes and how they get ground
The interaction between social needs, politics and commerce is the very essence of community. Friction, the stuff that happens so that bigger ideas can be generated, comes from conflicting agendas. It should be no surprise that the blogging on RBC features lots of…

If one is going to affect meaningful change in the face of LinkedIn's passive-aggressive resistance toward you and other vocal “activists” -- anticipating that the majority will continue to squeeze LinkedIn for as long as gives them a drop of something and eventually abandon you on to luxuriate on the moral high-ground – it seems to me that perhaps you should consider the value of sticking it out over packing it in.
So reads one of the comments in a long, inte…

Thanks again for the information that you provided us at the conference.
I look forward to meeting you when the Recruiting Roadshow rolls into Dallas. September 24 or 25th, has that date been finalized?
Jonathan
Make it laissez-faire totally and it fades away quickly.
A community developer like JasonD is a rare combination of someone who has faith in emergent systems and someone who also sets the basic design structure.
Thank you for connecting me via LinkedIn. Look forward to networking with you further here! Wish you all the best with your Recruiting Roadshow. I definitely will look into it further near future.
All the best,
