How do you introduce yourself to people you meet in business?
Hello. My name is Susan and I am fairly new here to the social networking site as well as new to sourcing and recruiting. My background is quite eclectic - I'm a mutt - primary education is in psychology, and experiences in finance, research, administration, clinical psychology, media and e-commerce. My last full time recruiting position was a sourcing role /internet recruiter providing cost effective online recruiting solutions to all recruiters around the University (esp - hard to fill positions in IT, Research, Admin positions). Although the role was a junior role, I had to compete with 6 other candidates (even those "with" Phds) for this position.. and was honored to have joined the recruiting team. I have been off ramp from the recruiting world to follow my heart to be a primary caregiver for my family while researching (mostly sourcing, marketing, and branding - actually I do wear many hats.. it all depends) for my sister's boutique "pink olive boutique" in NYC. I am currently exploring corporate side of strategic sourcing, talent acquisition, and diversity recruitment efforts in all industries. Interested in Web 2.0 recruiting and sourcing methods and best practices.
My education background include BA in Psychology concentration in behavioral medicine thesis in Chronic Pain studies from State University of New York at Binghamton, pursued Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology studies at University of Rhode Island in skin care research, alcohol and addiction studies at Brown University, masters thesis studies in charismatic and transformational leadership in grass root organizations, pursued Masters in Education studies from HUGSE and HR studies via HBS ext courses. Look forward to sharing and learning from one another. Note - I am here as a student only at the moment - exploring the recruiting industry (as of Summer 2008)

great way to network and meet new people I haven't met yet.. and look forward to meeting you and sharing information. thanks to my "new" friends from RBC...and you know who you are ;) lol Update - Love these group topics and chats (fav. so far - Susan Burn's Talent Cafe, Paul's LinkedIn and Twitter group), Strong Women leadership in recruiting field here at RBC from the following professionals ~ including Susan Burns, Claudia Faust, Rayanne Trumbo and of course Maren Hogan. PS. fyi - I do like Recruiting animal...especially when he and Jason comment on things (esp. between each other).... very funny :) - feel free to watch the video card I sent to Jason posted here.
...and what would you change and why?
Since I have participated in RBC end of May, I have seen and learned quite few things on the site. I look forward to learning more about Jason Davis's vision for the site. True talent here... honestly.. What would I change? More to think about for sure as I like Ning platforms as well. Addition: Perhaps more promo about "Why" Recruitfest now..perhaps more blog posts from Jason.

Hi Susan,

Happy Tuesday! Can you believe it...it's almost Sept!

Things overheard: This is from Phyllis Diller---
"Don't go to bed mad. Stay up and fight!"

I was kidding around with my huband one day and out of the blue, I said: " We both have something in common, we both love me." We both laughed...you just had to be there!

Hope these made you laughed!
