VISION

It is time to close the gap between your reality and your vision....

A learning organization is a group of people who are continually enhancing their capabilities to create what they want to create. ~Peter Senge

The best I know how...

Much has been written about ethics, lying, morals codes, legalities, etc... When it comes down to it, we all have a personal code that we live by.... Yes, I understand the teachings regarding a Universal Moral Law or the Universal Code of Ethics presumed and shared by individuals like C.S. Lewis - and I appreciate those teachings... I also know that I cannot sit in judgment of someone else and their behaviors as I understand them. Life is not that simple, my relationship with a greater being is… Continue

The New Front Porch

One of the most recognizable facets of American architecture from the eighteenth century through the 1940s was "the front porch." A nice place to sit on a cool evening following a warm summer day seems logical and well-thought out. America was once a wild, earthy place where individuals yearned for freedoms and ached to break away from repression. Perhaps the front porch served as a transition zone..., attached to a civilized home was an outdoor extension that reached out toward earth and… Continue

RecruitFest, Part Quatre..., for Pete's sake ... Part FOUR!

Well...., I wrote a beautiful blog last night at about 2am but RBC was undergoing maintenance when I submitted and it never made it to press. Ouch! I will try to re-create here... Saturday morning started with me waking with a start at 8:25am... shoot! Yoga starts at 8:30... I slapped some water on my face threw on some workout clothes and walked in late but just in time to partner with the lovely Anna Brekka. If you have met her, I am sure you agree: she is lovely. After an hour of stretching… Continue

RecruitFest, Part Trois

After a nice nap, I dressed for the party and raced downstairs to meet the waiting vans. RecruitngBlogs arranged for large passenger vans to take attendees to Jason and Michelle's house for a nice dinner party, poker tourney and more party...

We arrived in style and were rea… Continue

RecruitFest, Part Deux

How do you top a drumming circle with, as Maha put it, the "stars" of recruitment? I guess you take those same stars and put them in a room with some markers, some paper and some eager students. The hunt got under way as John Sumser, Susan Burns, Craig Silverman and Scott Love opened the floor for free flowing conversation and an open exchange of ideas and suggestions on how to do this job we all know and love - and not just "do it" but do it better and prepare your day, as well as your f… Continue

RecruitFest, Part Un

Arriving in the incredibly beautiful city of Toronto, my taxi driver couldn't help but notice my enthusiasm and lust for this new favorite city of mine. The feel of a European Chicago was intense and I cannot wait to return. My first destination was the inviting InterContinental Hotel where a room and shower (Thank God!) were waiting to wake me from my 10-hour trek to RecruitFest. I proceeded to the lower level just in time to see the top of Dennis Smith's head disappear down the escalator. Thi… Continue

...it's time to re-arrange

I have been thinking a lot about "change" lately..., and I don't mean the loose stuff you put in the empty Sparklett's bottle at the end of the day. Although change is sometimes painful and can be extremely difficult, it is typically necessary in order to move forward in life or career advancement. Almost two years ago, I left a comfortable job with a search firm that specialized in nurse management search and the occasional hospital CEO, VP-HR, etc. I had become very comfortable in that… Continue

A path of interaction...

The RBC team here is growing. This growth has inspired me to think a little more about the nature of teams. What makes them tick? why do they work? why do they fail? The purpose of a team is to reach a common goal, be that winning a game or bringing a new product to market. A team helps people accomplish more than they could have done working alone. Different talents and strengths are brought to the table to be shared effectively and utilized in the best possible capacity. What do we need, as… Continue

Where do YOU live?

"Gaining the balance and balancing the gain" has become somewhat of a mantra for me. The most difficult part of being a spouse, mother/father, daughter/son, sister/brother, friend, recruiter, sales manager, business partner, writer, actor, director, or student is learning to balance all the things you get to do, all the things you need to do, and all the things you want to do. An old friend used to say things like, "I get to mow the lawn today," or "I get to go home and make dinner now."… Continue

Recognize Humanity

Life moves very fast in the business world. In order to achieve success, one has to work very hard or just be very lucky. One of the most difficult things I have had to face is living with the sacrifices I made in order to get to this point in my life. I am very adept at laying guilt trips on myself. But I have learned, to quote the Stones, that "you can't always get what you want." Achieving desired success, hmm..., what we want isn't always what we need. I won't go back over the hierarchy of… Continue

Thanks Rayanne! I'm glad to have the opportunity to get back into the scene. After start at adidas I went off the grid for a while--needed to get some serious work done. Now finally that we have made some large leaps I need to recharge with all the great ideas and buzz that's out there. It's impressive what Jason and the community has built here. I hope to contribute and learn as much as I can.
